Biography: Dr. Wang Kanghong (born in 1973 in Ba Zhong County, Sichuan Province, China), is an associate professor of Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences as well as a member of e-government branch of the Chinese GIS Association.
From 1991 to 1995, Dr. Wang studied Geography at Sichuan Normal University, and received a bachelor's degree; From 1995 to 1998, he studied at Institute of Resources Sciences of Beijing Normal University, and obtained a master's degree; From 1998 to 2001, he studied RS and GIS, and completed his PhD from Institute of Geographic Sciences and Natural Resources Research of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Since joined SuperMap in 1998, Dr. Wang had been involved in multimedia GIS software development, and presided over several projects on land management information system. In 2001, he became a manager of the sales department, and assembled a team for SuperMap software sales. In 2002, he became a deputy general manager of Software Business Department and manager of marketing sales, where he was in charge of SuperMap GIS software sales and marketing. In 2004, he was the general manager of Platform Software Business Department, where he presided over the marketing, sales and customer services. From 2007, he has been a vice President of the company, and in charge of marketing of each division.
Dr Wang is experienced in development and organization of GIS projects, with knowledge in multimedia GIS software technology, digital land management information system, and workflow technology. He is familiar with the whole procedure of GIS application project. At the same time, Dr. Wang has great communication skills, and he understands GIS software market. Since taking over the marketing department, Dr. Wang and his sales team has well established SuperMap's role in the Chinese GIS market.
