>>>Keynote Speakers -Dr. Guoqing Sun

Biography:  Dr. Guoqing Sun is a research professor in Department of Geography and Earth Science System Interdisciplinary Center, University of Maryland at College Park. He received his B. S. degree in Physics from University of Science and Technology of China, M. Sc. Degree in Remote Sensing from Nanjing University, China, and Ph. D. in Geography from University of California, Santa Barbara. He has been involved in researches on remote sensing and GIS applications since early1980s, and worked as a lecture in Nanjing University, a researcher in National Center for Geographic Information and Analysis (NCGIA) in UCSB, an associate research scientist in NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. He has been a principal researcher and investigator in various NASA programs such as, Shuttle Imaging Radars (SIR-B, and SIR-C), Forest Ecosystem Dynamics (FED), Boreal Ecosystem-Atmosphere Study (BOREAS), Shuttle Radar Topography mission (SRTM), Land Cover Land Use Change (LCLUC), Carbon Cycle and Ecosystem Program. His research in radar backscatter and LIDAR waveform models and radar data applications in forest ecosystem studies has been recognized widely. His current research includes radar backscatter and lidar waveform modeling of vegetated surface, remote sensing data fusion for forest structure parameters retrieval, and land cover land use change studies. He is a senior member of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE), and former chair of Washington D. C. - Northern Virginia Chapter of IEEE Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society. He is currently an associate editor of Canadian Journal of Remote Sensing.
